Challenge addressed
To find a credit insurance solution suited to a complex financing structure involving multiple stakeholders (agents, participants and insurers). To ensure compliance with European regulations (CRR) while optimising margins.
Key challenge: Convincing insurers of the quality of the documentation so that, despite the shared receivables structure, there were acceptable prospects for recovery in the event of claims.
- Role
- Structuring the risk syndication with the target insurers and negotiating the wording of the insurance policy.
- Sector
- Information technology
The proposed solution
AU Group supported a European financial institution in implementing a credit insurance policy as part of a Risk Participation Agreement initiated by a leading global bank.
The transaction involved financing receivables relating to a European buyer in the information technology sector. The coverage protected against the risk of non-payment of the receivables, with limited exclusions and conditions. The amount insured exceeded $100 million.
The main objective was to enable the insured institution to release capital in line with CRR (EU Capital Requirements Regulation). Following detailed negotiations with the market, a policy was taken out with five AA/A+ (S&P)-rated insurers, ensuring regulatory recognition of the coverage and optimisation of return on capital.
Our expert's opinion
Thanks to the credit insurance solution, the insured bank was able to meet the client’s needs and participate in a facility involving counterparty risk in line with their standards, while protecting their margins in a highly competitive context.
