What are Structured Credit solutions?
Structured Credit solutions are credit insurance solutions whose legal and contractual structure is specifically tailored:
- to the nature of the financing covered,
- to the risk profile of each transaction,
- to the need for insurance capacity
- to the CRR regulatory requirements established by the Basel Committee.
Banks and credit institutions operate in many areas: ordinary trade, commodity trading, issuance of bonds, export finance, forfaiting, aviation or shipping finance, project finance, credit facilities, leasing, factoring, securitisation, real estate.
Structured Credit solutions
Specialist insurance solutions make it possible to cover financing structures ranging from plain vanilla to the most complex, including:
- short-, medium- or long-term loans, with or without security,
- discounting of trade receivables on a single debtor or portfolio basis,
- discounting of supplier credits,
- confirmation of documentary credits,
- issuance of bonds, guarantees, letters of credit or Stand-by letters of credit,
- reverse factoring,
- securitisation of trade receivables.
These transactions may be arranged by a single bank, through syndication or bank participation.
Policies tailored to specific constraints
Structuring these solutions requires policy wordings that take into account:
- CRR requirements,
- applicable law,
- the country in which the insurance is issued,
- whether or not a syndication is involved,
- the type of risk (single debtor, multiple debtors, portfolio),
- associated security,
- any co-insurance with corporates,
- whether or not there is an underlying commercial transaction.
